Depending on your tasks, select a suitable carrier in «transport – all requests». All available transport requests will open. Contact details of carriers and freight forwarders are open. You can contact the shipping organizers in a convenient way and order shipping.
- Posting shipper requests to find transport. On the main page of the website select «add cargo». Sometimes transport company owners are willing to offer prices below market rates. This happens when the transport is traveling in the same direction, or collecting groupage in the same direction, contact the carrier, clarify the shipping possibility, specify the transport type, do not forget to negotiate, and conclude a shipping contract. Do not provide the loading address until you have concluded a shipping contract with the carrier.
What can affect shipping costs
The main parameters affecting the cost of cargo shipping:
- Route distance.
- Physical characteristics of the cargo (weight and dimensions).
- The need to provide specialized transport. Such transport itself is more expensive than standard, and transport depreciation is included in the shipping cost.
- Quality of transport, good condition of the truck and trailer, guarantee of cargo safety.
- Some specialized vehicles for cargo shipping, for example, large capacity trucks, reefers, trailers for oversized cargo, require additional expenses in transit.
- Requirements for cargo insurance in transit and the value of the transported goods.
- Companies operating outdated worn-out transport may carry cargo cheaper, but the quality of delivery is questionable.
- The carrier's possession of CMR liability insurance.
Shipping. How to choose a reliable freight carrier or freight forwarder
Every shipper wants to save on cargo delivery, and every carrier wants to earn more, and that is normal. But first you need to check:
- The carrier's experience in the freight market, which is indicated in registration documents.
- Availability of documentation and license to work in shipping.
- Quality of the offered transport.
- The ability to provide CMR insurance.
- Check the business reputation of the carrier. You can use recommendations obtained from the carrier, or read reviews on the internet.
- Ask the carrier for shipping under the Carnet TIR, or find out if the carrier is a member of an association for freight companies.
- Find out if the freight company has all necessary permits for shipping your specific cargo.
- Get from the carrier the vehicle documents and driver's license, clarify all contacts.
If several freight companies that meet your requirements have called you, you should be guided by the shipping cost they quote and a safety checklist.
