What methods to use for cargo transportation from Uzbekistan. Transport infrastructure for delivering goods in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is a country in Central Asia, a former Soviet republic. Unlike neighboring Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan has maintained a certain stability in its economy after the collapse of the USSR, although it has certainly undergone significant changes. The share of agriculture in the country's GDP has halved. However, cotton cultivation still brings significant profits to this country. The basis of Uzbekistan's relative prosperity lies in its natural resources. The country has significant deposits of natural gas, gold, uranium, copper, silver, and tungsten.

Types of transport used for cargo transportation in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan borders Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The country has access to the Aral Sea-lake, which has significantly shrunk and partially dried up. For this reason, maritime shipping on the Aral is currently not carried out. Nevertheless, all modern types of transport: water, rail, air, and road are available in the republic and are supported by the corresponding infrastructure.

Condition of Uzbek roads

A significant portion of Uzbek roads used for cargo transportation is in poor condition. The problem has even been acknowledged by the president of the republic, who noted that Uzbekistan spends 6 times more on road construction than China and 7.5 times more than Poland, while the quality of Chinese and Polish roads is significantly higher, and the number of traffic accidents related to unsatisfactory road surface quality is increasing in Uzbekistan. The total length of Uzbek roads is almost 86.5 thousand km. 75.5 thousand km of roads have a solid surface.

Air transport in Uzbekistan

There are a total of 53 airports in Uzbekistan. 33 of them have runways with a solid surface. 23 airports have runway lengths that allow them to accommodate the latest aircraft of various designs. International flights are accepted by the following airports:

  • Tashkent.
  • Termez.

Water transport in Uzbekistan

The dried-up Aral Sea has deprived Uzbekistan of maritime transport and ports on its coast. However, one of the main rivers in the region, the Amu Darya, flows through the territory of the country. The length of the navigable route on it is 1100 km. Vessels with a deadweight of 500 tons can navigate. The main river port is located in Termez.

Rail transport in Uzbekistan

The length of railway tracks in the republic is 3645 km, with 620 km of tracks electrified. The gauge is 1520 mm. This gauge is standard for all countries that were previously part of the USSR, and cargo transportation between them by rail is possible without transshipment en route.
