How much does it cost to order a container truck. Container shipping by road transport

Who and how to search for transport for container shipping

When choosing a specific carrier, it is important to remember that the price of shipping is not always the main criterion. Low-cost road transport is usually offered by private vehicle owners and small carrier companies. Unlike large transport firms, these companies do not have modern vehicles and cannot provide cargo insurance during transit. Additionally, they cannot offer quality additional services, in particular: documentation processing and customs clearance of goods.

Expert tips for finding container trucks

If you were unable to find a suitable offer for container shipping on this page, post a request for cargo transportation on the website. Employees of transport companies constantly review these requests and will contact you. You can post a request by using the menu “Cargo for road transport”. Activate it, select “Add cargo” and fill out the opened request form, indicating that you specifically need container shipping. The menu is located at the top left of the page.

Below this menu is the menu “Transport for road transport”, intended for vehicle owners. If you have not yet found cargo, open this menu and select “Add transport”. Fill out the request form. Soon, shippers will call you.

A request for transport or cargo can also be made from the main page of the site, through the menu “International transport”.

Who needs container shipping by road

From a logistics perspective, it is often unprofitable to transport a significant portion of cargo solely by road. It is cheaper to cover part of the distance by rail, sea, or river. When the shipper or consignee is located on different continents, direct road delivery is impossible.

By rail and sea, cargo is transported in containers. Of course, it is possible to unload the cargo upon its arrival and transport it further outside the container, but this incurs additional costs for loading and unloading operations and requires the presence of a representative of the consignee at the port or railway station. Transporting the container by road to the final destination allows for saving time and money. Those who want to organize “door-to-door” delivery should use road container transport.

Methods of container transport by road and characteristics of vehicles

Container transport is carried out:

• on flatbed trucks;
• on trucks and truck-trailer combinations;
• on specialized container trucks;
• on self-loading container trucks.

The most commonly used is the semi-trailer — an open platform, which is usually referred to as a container truck. The length of such a semi-trailer is 12.5 meters, width is 2.5 meters, and load capacity is 25 tons. A container semi-trailer allows for transporting two 20-foot containers or one 40-foot container.

Where can cargo be sent by container truck

When determining the possibility of delivering cargo by container truck, the availability of roads between the unloading point of the container at the port or railway station and the final destination is crucial. In fact, within the Eurasian continent, cargo can be delivered by container truck between any ports or railway stations and any populated area. Regardless of where the container loading point is located: in Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, further transport by road is almost always possible.

Who should choose a container truck for cargo delivery

If you want to deliver your cargo in a container “door-to-door”, using different modes of transport, you should use a container truck at the initial and final stages of transportation.
