Search for tank trucks. Cost of transporting liquid food cargo and chemicals by tank trucks

Transporting in tankers is somewhat more expensive than using regular freight transport. However, due to savings on packaging materials and faster loading and unloading, this type of transport can even save money. Tank trucks can be mounted directly on the truck frame, or tanker trailers and semi-trailers can be used. If necessary, tank trucks are equipped with heating or cooling systems for the transported liquids.

Classification of tank trucks by purpose

Different types of tanks are used for transporting various types of cargo:

  • Liquid chemicals. They can transport both regular and aggressive chemical liquids. For aggressive liquids, tanks made of special stainless steels are used. Sometimes such tank trucks are rubberized — the inner walls are covered with a layer of special bitumen mastic, which allows rubberized tanks to be used for long-term storage of aggressive liquids.
  • Food products. Tanks for transporting food products are lined inside with a layer of stainless steel, zinc, or coated with glass enamel. Such tanks must have thermal insulation, and sometimes cooling systems.
  • Light petroleum products. Very strict fire safety requirements apply to fuel tankers, and they are manufactured with these requirements in mind.
  • Dark petroleum products. Such tanks are often referred to as bitumen carriers. They must be equipped with a heating system for the transported liquid, as dark petroleum products thicken when cooled and can sometimes crystallize.
  • Flammable gases. Liquefied flammable gases are transported in special tanks. Their distinguishing feature is the load-bearing outer shell and double walls.

Classification of tank trucks by design

Depending on the external environmental conditions, as well as the chemical and physical properties of the liquid being transported, they are produced in the following designs:

  • For normal conditions. In fact, this is a steel barrel that can only be used for transporting non-aggressive liquids in warm weather, or the transported liquid must be non-freezing.
  • Isothermal. Such tanks are like thermoses on wheels and maintain the temperature of the liquid poured into them for a long time. Due to thermal insulation, the temperature change of the liquid in isothermal tanks is from 1 to 3 degrees per day.
  • Isothermal with heating or cooling. Heating and cooling of liquids are provided by installing additional special devices.
  • For transporting hazardous chemical cargo. These tank trucks are described in detail above.

When changing the transported liquid, tank trucks must be thoroughly washed with special reagents before filling with a new cargo. Tanks for food products must be thoroughly washed after each transport.
