Low loaders or trailers are used in two cases:

1. For transporting various special equipment that is not intended for independent movement on public roads (combines, rollers, bulldozers, tanks, etc.).
2. For transporting various indivisible cargoes (containers, pipes, industrial equipment, river and sea vessels; sometimes entire houses are transported on low loaders).

Low loaders can be straight or "broken". On straight ones, the entire surface of the platform can be used for cargo placement. Low loaders with a "broken" frame are used for transporting tall cargoes.

Characteristics of low loaders

There are many models of low loaders. They can be classified by several criteria.

By loading height, low loaders are divided into:

• Low loaders with a high frame (1 m and above).
• Low-frame (from 85 to 95 cm).
• With a lowered platform for cargo (from 40 to 70 cm).

By load capacity, there are 4 types of low loaders:

• Low loaders capable of carrying up to 25 tons are considered light.
• From 25 to 45 tons — medium.
• From 45 to 110 tons — heavy.
• Low loaders with a load capacity of over 110 tons are called "super heavy modules" or "platforms".

The geometric dimensions of low loaders of different models vary. It is better for your company's logistics managers to contact the carrier's representatives and clarify which specific model of low loader is suitable for your planned transportation.

Geography of cargo transportation by low loaders

It should be understood that a significant portion of low loader transportation refers to oversized transportation. Special permission is required for such transportation. Therefore, most of these transports occur within one country. However, large transport companies are ready to organize oversized transportation abroad. Thus, transportation by low loaders is possible between any two points on the map, as long as they are connected by roads.
