Storage and Transportation of Grain from Ukraine to Other Countries
Ukraine is a major exporter of grain to many countries. To maintain the quality of the product at the highest level, it is necessary to comply with the storage conditions and also ensure timely transportation. Most often, grain trucks are used for this purpose, which do not necessarily need to be owned. They can be rented or a comprehensive delivery service can be arranged. Today we will discuss all the nuances.
Storage Conditions for Grain During Transportation
Storage conditions for grain during transportation depend on the type of grain, its moisture content, the duration of transportation, and the climatic conditions along the route. However, some general principles can be applied to ensure the preservation of grain during transportation:
- Temperature: grain should be stored and transported at a specific temperature, which depends on its type and moisture content. Usually, a temperature not exceeding 20°C is recommended for grain storage.
- Ventilation: grain should be provided with adequate ventilation to avoid overheating and moisture accumulation. It is recommended to use a ventilation system with the installation of ventilation windows on the side walls, which ensure free airflow.
- Cooling: in the case of transporting grain at elevated temperatures (for example, during hot weather), it may be necessary to cool the grain to a certain temperature to avoid overheating and quality losses.
- Aeration: grain should be provided with sufficient aeration to prevent moisture accumulation and the possibility of mold and fungus formation. It is recommended to use an aeration system that ensures even air distribution within the load.
- Preservation: to improve the quality of grain, the use of preservatives, such as propionic acid, may be required to prevent the development of fungus and mold.
Why It Is Beneficial to Rent a Grain Truck
Timely harvesting of grain from the fields and delivering it to proper storage conditions is extremely important. One should not wait too long for the opportunity to buy special transport. This can lead to spoilage and loss of part of the harvest. Moreover, purchasing and maintaining a grain truck involves high and unjustified expenses. It is much more advantageous to rent it.
By choosing a transport company specializing in grain delivery, you can save significantly, as the fleet of specialized equipment can provide transport tailored to your specific needs without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.
The presence of GPS navigation indicates the quality of service. It will allow tracking the location of the cargo. Check in advance whether the carrier provides this service.
